On 15 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that the atmosphere before the start of the Songkran water festivities on Khaosan Road was lively from the morning. Both Thai and foreign tourists steadily arrived, many dressed in colorful floral shirts, equipped with water guns and water buckets, preparing to join the fun in the afternoon and evening.
Street vendors began setting up stalls selling water play equipment such as water guns, goggles, and waterproof phone cases. In some areas, music played early to enhance the lively atmosphere even before the water splashing began.
Police and related agencies enforced strict order in the area. Riot Control Company officers, known as the "Namwan Company," were deployed across the site to maintain order. Additionally, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams inspected the area and potential risk points to ensure safety.
Authorities asked the public to cooperate by following regulations, refraining from using powder, and playing water respectfully so the Songkran festival can be enjoyable and safe throughout the event.
