Forces have been urgently mobilized "Officials and residents of Khlong Toei" are working together to build a "temporary water barrier" to block the rising seawater. The water has recently started to recede, but close monitoring remains essential.
On 20 April 2026, reporters observed that following the damage to the flood barrier along Khlong Phra Khanong caused by high tides, which led to flooding in parts of the community, officials and local residents in Khlong Toei have been urgently mobilized to fully respond to the situation.
At the Ko Klang community and Tha Sai area near Khlong Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei district office officials, relevant agencies, and local residents were seen stacking sandbags in long rows to build a temporary water barrier, sealing gaps in the damaged original flood defenses.
The work proceeded urgently amid concerns of another high tide. Officials had to quickly seal leaks and reinforce the water barriers in time, while residents actively helped by carrying sand, placing sandbags, and setting up defenses in front of their homes.
Initially, water levels have begun to drop at several points, but close vigilance is still required, especially during the next high tide cycle, which could cause water levels to rise again.
Officials have warned residents in low-lying areas and along Khlong Phra Khanong to continuously monitor the situation, move valuables to higher ground, and prepare to respond should flooding recur.
Meanwhile, efforts to reinforce the sandbag barriers and build temporary water defenses continue to control the situation and minimize the impact on residents as much as possible.
