Fake news falsely claiming that "Thairath Online" used AI to create images of politicians, Thairath TV announcers, and prominent businessmen to gain credibility and link to investment solicitations. Legal action is planned against malicious individuals. Meanwhile, CP Group issued a clarifying statement.
On 21 Apr 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that social media circulated AI-generated fake images resembling the news website Thairath Online (https://www.thairath.co.th) publishing news that the Thairath Online news team did not produce. These images and content referenced well-known politicians and executives of major companies, causing misunderstandings and linking to investment solicitations.
The dissemination of this content was not produced by Thairath Online but was altered and spread by malicious groups to cause confusion and social media sharing, leading to inappropriate public comments.
Thairath Online will file a complaint to authorities to promptly track down those impersonating the outlet and pursue legal action. Updates will be provided as the case progresses.
Meanwhile, CP Group issued a statement regarding the circulated content, stating it was fabricated, falsely claiming association with a leading national media outlet, and creating untrue stories involving interviews with organizational leaders alongside political figures. The content also distorted information and notably used AI technology to fabricate images depicting simulated events that never occurred, aiming to lend credibility and mislead the public. Such acts distort facts and severely damage the reputation and image of executives and the organization.
CP Group affirmed that the content is false and defamatory, including manipulated images causing harm to the reputation and image of organizational leaders and the company. This constitutes a violation of personal rights and may be subject to both civil and criminal law.
The company confirms that no interviews or events as claimed took place, and CP Group has no involvement with the content or any investment activities shown in the media.
