"Chest Disease Institute" Joining efforts to create safe spaces, air quality monitoring devices have been installed to track and report PM 2.5 dust levels in real-time.
On 22 April 2026, Dr. Sakrin Kangsukon, a pulmonology and respiratory specialist at the Chest Disease Institute, stated that PM 2.5 dust is a silent threat damaging our respiratory and cardiovascular systems over the long term. Prolonged exposure leads to accumulation in the respiratory tract, causing inflammation in the bronchi and alveoli, potentially resulting in chronic conditions such as asthma, emphysema, cardiovascular disease, and increasing the risk of lung cancer.
The Chest Disease Institute recognizes this problem and cares deeply about the respiratory health of nearby residents. Therefore, it has installed IQAir air quality measurement devices and the CCIT AirVisual Station to monitor and report dust levels in real-time. This tool helps people understand daily air conditions, enabling them to adjust their behaviors appropriately to protect their health.
For immediate prevention, the public can check dust levels each morning via the IQAir app. Those near the Chest Disease Institute can search for Central Chest Institute of Thailand. On days with high dust levels, people should wear N95 masks or double-layered medical masks when going outdoors and avoid outdoor activities on days with poor air quality.
