Get Ready: Bangkok Opens Locations in 30 Districts for Free Large Waste Disposal on 2-3 May

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is moving forward to facilitate residents by organizing a project called "Scheduled Large Waste Drop-off and Collection" for the year 2026 to address large waste blocking waterways and promote sustainable waste separation. This week, the service is available on 2-3 May 2026 from 09:00 to 12:00 (please place waste at your residence's waste drop-off point before 08:30). Alongside this,they introduce the "Waste Buyback" platform teaching how to sell waste directly from home for easy extra income.

Residents wanting to dispose of large waste are advised to sort the items properly before disposal. For example, furniture, electrical appliances, or sports equipment larger than one meter should be cut into smaller pieces. Heavy items should be separated, and smaller waste pieces bundled neatly. Also, prepare to show your ID card to officials (electricity or water bills can be used as alternatives).

Additionally, if you need to dispose of large amounts of waste far from the weekly drop-off points, you can contact the Cleaning and Parks Department of each district office for service, paying fees according to government regulations. Warning: Improper disposal obstructs Bangkok's water drainage and is punishable under the Cleanliness Act: a 2,000 baht fine for disposing waste outside containers or designated points, and up to 10,000 baht for dumping into waterways under the Criminal Code Section 380.
