Residents of Saphan Sung district feel relieved as Councilor Mathuros teams up with Saphan Sung District Office and Bang Chan Police Station to establish three measures to address illegal gatherings in abandoned houses. Police emphasize immediate action upon detecting any irregular incidents after residents repeatedly complained.
Reporters noted that residents in Bangkok's Saphan Sung district have repeatedly complained about illegal gatherings and drug use in abandoned houses within their community. Previously, there were incidents of electrical wiring being set on fire to steal copper, causing fear of fires and mental health concerns. Despite multiple reports and complaints to relevant authorities, no concrete solutions have been implemented, leaving the community at ongoing risk and forced to monitor the situation themselves.
In response, affected residents were contacted by Councilor Mathuros Bent of Saphan Sung district, who coordinated with the Saphan Sung District Office, Bang Chan Police Station, and related officials to jointly seek solutions to the problem.
On 5 May 2026, Mr. Pongsathon Chanpaisansilp, Director of Saphan Sung District, assigned municipal officers to inspect following complaints of drug gatherings and trash burning inside a privately owned house on Soi Ratpattana 26. Upon inspection, no drug-related activity was found.
Municipal officials ordered both day and night patrol teams to continuously monitor the area. Should drug-related gatherings be detected, they are to promptly coordinate with Bang Chan Police Station for swift action. This aims to resolve the issue and prevent disturbances to residents nearby. Authorities emphasized ongoing vigilance and rapid response to any future irregular activities.
Councilor Mathuros Bent stated that today she joined the district office on-site to investigate neglected abandoned houses that have become hotspots for drug use and theft, causing long-standing distress to the community. This recurring problem highlights gaps in law enforcement and how abandoned properties become societal burdens.
Following discussions, urgent measures were agreed upon: 1. The district office and Bang Chan Police Station will urgently contact homeowners to take responsibility by fencing off, securing, and clearly posting no trespassing signs; 2. The district office will deploy more municipal officers to intensify inspections day and night, with plans to install “Green Boxes” to continuously record patrol activities rather than just passing checks; and 3. Bang Chan Police Station will regularly dispatch patrol units to prevent repeated misuse of the area.
Authorities request community cooperation: if anyone notices suspicious activity or illegal gatherings in the area, they should immediately report it by calling 191 or notifying the district office, so officials can respond swiftly. Legal action requires direct evidence at the scene.
Meanwhile, Bang Chan Police Station assures the public that if any offenses are witnessed, immediate reports will allow for prompt arrests on the spot.
