The Social Security Office is moving forward with collecting opinions from employers, employees, and related parties on revising the Compensation Act from today until 15 Jun 2026 GMT+7.

On 8 May, reporters reported that the Social Security Office (SSO) is inviting general feedback on amendments to the Compensation Act B.E. 2537 (1994). The goal is to elevate employee protection to align with changing economic and social conditions, while providing all sectors the opportunity to offer input, ensuring the law revision is appropriate, fair, and truly addresses employees' needs.

In this legal amendment, the Social Security Office focuses on enhancing benefits and expanding employee coverage in multiple dimensions. Plans include integrating domestic workers into the compensation system to grant them the same protection as other employees, alongside updating family benefit criteria to better reflect reality, such as"unlocking"spousal restrictions by allowing compensation payments even if remarriage occurs; extending rights for children to receive compensation in case of employee death based on actual circumstances; and enabling employees to designate beneficiaries for compensation in advance. The terms of office for the compensation fund committee, medical committee, and audit committee will be set at two years each, with a maximum of two consecutive terms to ensure continuity and prevent concentration of power. Qualifications for committee members will be clearly defined; they must not hold overlapping positions on the Social Security Committee.
