
"State Railway of Thailand" Clarifies the accident where a freight train sideswiped a bus at the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection and commits to fully assist and compensate those affected.
On 16 May 2026, an accident occurred involving freight train No. 2126 (route Laem Chabang Port – Bang Sue) colliding with a bus between Khlong Tan and Makkasan stations (at the Asoke-Din Daeng level crossing) at 15:41, causing a fire in the area. The extent of damages is currently under investigation.
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) explains that immediately after the incident, SRT dispatched a team to the scene and coordinated with firefighting and rescue units to extinguish the fire and provide urgent assistance to those affected to the best of their ability.
1. Ordinary train No. 277 Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) – Kabin Buri reached Makkasan station at 15:44, waiting for clearance.
2. Commuter train No. 379 Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) – Chachoengsao Junction, scheduled to depart Bangkok at 16:35, waiting for clearance.
3. Special commuter train No. 391 Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) – Chachoengsao Junction, scheduled to depart Bangkok at 16:55, waiting for clearance.
4. Ordinary train No. 282 Kabin Buri – Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) reached Hua Mak station at 16:38, delayed by 6 minutes, waiting for clearance.
5. Ordinary train No. 284 Chuk Samet – Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) reached Hua Mak station at 17:36, on schedule, waiting for clearance.
6. Commuter train No. 371 Bangkok (Hua Lamphong) – Prachin Buri, scheduled to depart Bangkok at 17:40, waiting for clearance.
Due to the impact of this incident, it may be necessary to transfer passengers on some trains. SRT is coordinating with the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to provide shuttle buses from Bangkok station to Hua Mak station to facilitate onward travel. SRT staff will closely assist and support passengers throughout the process.
Currently, the State Railway of Thailand's Safety Center is coordinating and commanding the response, closely monitoring the situation. An urgent investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and assess the damage. SRT is fully prepared to provide care and compensation to those affected according to its highest standards.
