Rescue Team Reveals Condition of Fatalities on Bus After Train Collision Emergency Door Found Open

Incident "Train collides with bus" Rescue teams revealed the condition and locations of fatalities inside the bus wreckage, with most victims charred by fire. The emergency door was found open after identity verification, and all bodies were returned to their families.

On 16 May 2026, a freight train originating from Chachoengsao Province and destined for Bang Sue Station collided with air-conditioned bus route 206 traveling between Mega Bangna and Bang Khen near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station. The collision caused a severe fire on the bus, resulting in 8 deaths and numerous injuries, as previously reported.

Piyalak Thinkaeo, Operations Chief of the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, spoke about the progress of the investigation into the train-bus collision beneath the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station. He expressed condolences to the victims' families. Initially, the fatalities were found inside the bus, mostly burned, at 8 locations from the front to the middle door. Five victims were identified including the driver and passengers. From the middle door to the rear, 3 more fatalities were found. Additionally, body parts were discovered outside the vehicle near the front of a container, but it remains unclear whether they belong to the injured or deceased. The bus conductor sustained injuries.


Regarding the collision details, the impact occurred at the main entrance and exit door area. There was also evidence of attempts to use the emergency door as an exit following the accident.

There were a total of 25 injured persons, who were sent to Camillian Hospital, Phayathai Hospital, Phramongkutklao Hospital, and Rajavithi Hospital. Of these, the Ruamkatanyu Foundation transported over 10 patients, mostly with minor to moderate injuries.

Currently, officials are coordinating their efforts and transporting the deceased to the Police General Hospital. We strive to work meticulously to ensure the victims can return home. This process requires sensitivity and may take some time. The Ruamkatanyu Foundation will assist by returning all bodies to their families free of charge.
