On 16 May 2026, data from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation summarized the casualties from the train-bus collision: eight people have died. The identities of the deceased remain unknown as they must undergo identification verification at the Police Hospital's forensic institute.
There are a total of 30 injured individuals, including the bus driver, identified as Mr. Lapit Thongbun, who sustained burn injuries and is currently hospitalized and under police custody. Additionally, Ms. Supaporn Jansorn, the bus conductor on the bus involved, is also receiving treatment at the hospital.
The train driver, named Mr. Somyaporn Suankul, aged 46, suffered head injuries due to the impact between the train and the bus involved. He is currently hospitalized and under police custody.
Moreover, police have taken the railway crossing guard into custody for investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
Regarding the eight deceased, their bodies have been sent to the Police Hospital's forensic institute. At 10:00 a.m. on 17 May 2026, a medical team will conduct autopsies to confirm their identities.
