The accident involved a freight train originating from Chachoengsao Province heading to Bang Sue Station, which collided with an air-conditioned bus on route 206 traveling between Mega Bangna and Bang Khen, near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan station. The collision caused a severe fire on the bus, resulting in 8 deaths and 30 injuries at approximately 15:40 on 16 May 2026, as previously reported.
On 17 May 2026, updates on tracking and identifying the missing persons show that relatives of five missing individuals have come to the Police Hospital's Forensic Institute to proceed with identity verification through testing.
Officials from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, together with the Forensic Institute, are facilitating and informing relatives about DNA testing procedures. They explained that DNA testing can only proceed when direct relatives such as parents or children arrive to provide confirmation.
. Bangkok Metropolitan Administrationposted a statement saying, “We announce contact channels for people who suspect that their relatives or close persons have been injured or died due to the container train collision with bus route 206 and several vehicles near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan.”
