Regarding the accident where a train collided with a bus near the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station around 3:30 p.m. yesterday (16 May), which resulted in 8 deaths at the scene and many injuries, as previously reported.
On 17 May 2026, Police Colonel Uramphon Khundechsamrit, Makkasan Police Chief, revealed after further questioning railway crossing staff who denied involvement. Details remain confidential. Initially, they were charged with negligence causing death and serious injury, and legal proceedings will continue.
It was reported that police took the train driver and the signalman (flagman) for medical examination and drug testing at the Police Hospital. The train driver tested positive for drugs, while the flagman’s test was negative. Official confirmation and detailed test results are still awaited.
