The Seismological Surveillance Division of the Meteorological Department reported a magnitude 5.3 earthquake near the southern coast of Myanmar, approximately 247 km from Mae Sot District, Tak Province. There is no impact on Thailand.

On 18 May 2026, the Seismological Surveillance Division of the Meteorological Department reported that at 09:05 GMT+7, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake occurred near the southern coast of Myanmar, at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter was about 247 km southwest of Mae Sot District, Tak Province.

Initially, this earthquake did not affect Thailand. Further details will be promptly communicated if available.

There were reports that people in tall buildings in various areas of Bangkok felt the tremors.
