The train engineer involved in the train-bus collision that caused eight deaths has come to give a statement to Makkasan Police without responding to any questions from reporters.
At 3:00 PM on 18 May 2026, following the train-bus collision near Asok-Din Daeng Road close to the Airport Rail Link Makkasan Station, the train engineer or assistant driver of the involved train arrived to meet the investigation team at Makkasan Police Station. Wearing a hat and mask to cover his face, he immediately went to meet the investigators upon arrival without answering any questions.
At the same time, a person believed to be a railway official, identified by wearing a State Railway of Thailand (SRT) shirt, escorted the engineer to meet the investigators. Reports indicate that prior to this, the engineer had already provided information during the fact-finding process with the State Railway of Thailand.
The police are questioning the engineer to establish facts about the day of the incident, including his location, the nature of his duties, whether the train driver was absent before the collision and where the driver was, based on some CCTV footage and other important related issues.
