Identification of Victims from Train-Bus Collision Completed for 4 Bodies, 1 Still Awaiting Family Contact

The commander of the Institute of Forensic Medicine revealed the identification of victims from the incident. Train collided with a bus. Identification has been completed for 4 bodies, while DNA samples have been collected from 7 families. One body remains without family contact. The forensic institute confirms they are fully expediting the process.

At 11:00 a.m. on 19 May 2026, Police Major General Wirun Supasing Siripreecha, Commander of the Police Hospital Forensic Institute, updated the progress on identifying victims from the. train-bus collision. At the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection, he said identification has been completed for 4 bodies and the information has been forwarded to Makkasan Police Station. This allows investigators to coordinate with families and proceed with the necessary steps. The forensic institute's role is strictly to verify genetic relationships with families.

The remaining 4 bodies are still undergoing additional forensic testing, which requires special examinations. Although the bodies have been examined, the institute must wait for family data to fully compare the DNA samples.

Of the 8 deceased, 7 families have provided information and DNA samples. Identification has been confirmed for 4 bodies, while 3 are pending forensic results. One body still has no family contact for DNA sampling, so the institute awaits family action to proceed with comparison and confirmation.

Police Major General Wirun added that any family suspecting a relative was involved can come forward for information and DNA sampling. Currently, the sex of all victims cannot be clearly determined due to severe damage to some bodies.

If no family contacts are made, officials will preserve the body, collect evidence and DNA samples following unidentified corpse procedures, and police will continue public appeals to locate relatives.

Police Major General Wirun confirmed that the forensic institute is working diligently to identify the remaining 3 bodies. Meanwhile, families of the 4 identified victims have not yet claimed the bodies and are awaiting coordination from Makkasan Police Station to prepare documents before collecting the remains from the institute.

Simultaneously, the Ruamkatanyu Foundation has prepared to transport the deceased back to their hometowns free of charge. They await coordination from the forensic institute to schedule the exact date and time. The foundation has arranged 7 vehicles ready to immediately deliver the bodies upon confirmation today.
