On 26 May 2026, reporters reported that the family of Mr. Sermlap Pintong, also known as "A", aged 44, the eighth and final victim of the train-bus collision tragedy at the Asoke-Din Daeng intersection, had come to arrange for the body to be taken home for religious rites.
Later, relatives, childhood friends, and colleagues came to invite the deceased's spirit at the bus involved in the accident, a BMTA bus, amid an atmosphere filled with grief and mourning. They brought the deceased's favorite foods as offerings, including stir-fried holy basil, mixed vegetable soup, plain rice, and sausage bread.
Mr. Kiangkrai Prajantasena, a close friend and coworker who filed the missing person report, said that on 18 May 2026, a Monday and the day of their office move, Mr. Sermlap Pintong could not be contacted. This caused concern among colleagues and close ones, as the deceased was highly responsible and had never missed work.
In the afternoon, friends and close ones searched for him and gathered information about his disappearance before deciding to report it as a missing person case at Rattanathibet Police Station. At first, they did not know the victim was involved in the train-bus accident due to lack of clear information.
Subsequently, they coordinated with human resources, Nonthaburi municipality, nearby shops, and TrueMove to check phone signals and CCTV footage. They contacted TrueMove on Tuesday to track the deceased's phone signal, and on Thursday, the company confirmed the last signal was at the accident site.
It was later learned that the deceased lived in Nonthaburi province and regularly traveled to work in the Asoke-Sukhumvit area. He also enjoyed commuting by bus. On the day of the accident, Saturday, 16 May 2026, he intended to attend a BNK48 event and had discussed this with coworkers before the incident.
Mr. Kiangkrai added that the deceased was an introvert, dedicated to his work, highly responsible, and beloved by coworkers and clients. Everyone had been hoping for his safe return. The temple chosen for the funeral rites was the same one where his parents' funerals were held.
However, Mr. Kiangkrai ended with a trembling voice, "I feel deeply regretful for him. I want to say I miss him and wish him a safe journey."
