The King Prajadhipok Institute, in collaboration with the SIRIVANNAVARI brand, organized the tribute event "A Legacy in Bloom: Designing Royal Heritage Across Generations," unveiling a special edition of scarves and ties that reflect Thai cultural identity through fabric.
The King Prajadhipok Institute, through the King Prajadhipok Museum and the Secretariat Office, held a grand tribute event titled "A Legacy in Bloom: Designing Royal Heritage Across Generations" to launch the Institute’s scarves and ties. This special occasion honors Queen Ramphaiphanni of King Rama VII’s reign, who played a significant role in revitalizing local handicrafts, and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, who elevated Thai artisan crafts to contemporary and valuable art forms. The collection was designed by the SIRIVANNAVARI brand under the creative direction of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, featuring patterns inspired by King Prajadhipok and Queen Ramphaiphanni.
"A Legacy in Bloom: Designing Royal Heritage Across Generations" is part of the tribute project "Sirirampan Pastraporn," aimed at promoting the royal merits and achievements in education, social development, and gender equality of Queen Ramphaiphanni on the auspicious occasion of her 120th birth anniversary and the 100th anniversary of her establishment as Queen. It also marks the significant UNESCO recognition of her as a World Important Person for 2026–2027. Additionally, the event honors Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, for her promotion of Thai handicrafts and textiles on the international stage.
The SIRIVANNAVARI brand continues to preserve and expand Thailand’s cultural heritage through contemporary design and fashion. Inspired by the "Foremost Queens," the two royal figures who inspired the study of art and design, the brand reinterpreted the King Prajadhipok Institute’s identity through haute couture fashion in three product styles.
The event space was divided into three exhibition zones to convey the royal merits, the continuity of aesthetic appreciation, and the development of Thai handicrafts by the three royal figures. The tribute zone presented their biographies, royal duties, and their connections as promoters of Thai arts and culture: Queen Ramphaiphanni, known for her compassion and skill in improving villagers’ quality of life by revitalizing local handicrafts in Chanthaburi and developing the S.B.K. village industry; Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, founder of the Artisan Center who elevated Thai handicrafts to hold a dignified place in the modern world; and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who continues the cultural heritage through contemporary design and fashion under the SIRIVANNAVARI brand.
The next zone showcased the designed pieces, including scarves and ties, conveying the design concepts, creative processes, and the deep meanings embedded in the details. It also featured live demonstrations of scarf painting by artisans from the painting department at the Bang Sai Artisan Center. The final zone served as a reception and discussion area, highlighting the important collaboration between the King Prajadhipok Institute and the SIRIVANNAVARI brand.
This tribute exhibition will be open to the public from 30 May to 30 June 2026, Tuesday through Sunday, from 09:00 to 16:00, at the King Prajadhipok Museum. For further details and inquiries, please contact 02 142 7703.
