At 13:00 on 4 June 2026, Phra Panyakaran, a Vietnamese monk and the initiator of the widely recognized "Walk for Peace" project in the United States, along with an international group of monks, visited Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan to pay respects to the Most Venerable Phra Phrom Sit, a member of the Supreme Sangha Council and abbot of Wat Saket. The group paid homage before the statue of the late Most Venerable Somdet Phra Phutthachan (Oppaseno Maha Thera), former acting Supreme Patriarch and former head of the Overseas Sangha Affairs Office, in recognition of his significant dedication to spreading Buddhism worldwide.
Subsequently, the monks paid respects directly to the Most Venerable Phra Phrom Sit, who graciously offered teachings and warmly welcomed them with respect, faith, and friendship, strengthening bonds centered around Buddhism.
During the visit, the international monks exchanged views on promoting Buddhism, fostering peace, and building mutual understanding among global communities, aligning with the goals of the "Walk for Peace" project that emphasizes the values of peace, compassion, and unity through Buddhist principles.
After paying respects, the international monks proceeded to venerate the Buddha's relics at Phra Borom Bupphot (Golden Mount) and offered robes to the stupa as a devotional act, seeking blessings and expressing deep faith in the Triple Gem.
This occasion marks an important milestone in strengthening international Buddhist relations and jointly promoting the values of peace, harmony, and brotherhood among humanity, which will contribute to the greater well-being of global society.
