On 16 June 2026, Mr. Kritpetch Chaichuay, Director-General of the Marine Department, assigned the Vessel Inspection Group of the Office of Water Safety and Environment to operate patrol boats "Chao Tha 218" and "Chao Tha 220" to provide free transport for the public between Wat Rakhang Pier, Wat Arun Pier, and Tha Chang (Palace) Pier. This service runs from 13 to 26 June 2026, from 08:30 until completion, aiming to facilitate and ensure safety for people attending the royal tribute at the Grand Palace. This arrangement eases waterway travel, reduces road congestion, and boosts passenger safety confidence.
The Marine Department has prepared boats with staff at each pier to provide information and assist boarding and disembarking. They have also instructed boat operators to strictly follow safety measures, including providing sufficient life-saving equipment, inspecting passenger boats' readiness, and limiting passenger numbers according to regulations.
The Marine Department is committed to fulfilling the Ministry of Transport’s policy by facilitating, ensuring safety, and enhancing the quality of water transport services, so the public can travel conveniently, quickly, and safely. If anyone witnesses unsafe water incidents, they should call the Marine Department’s 24-hour hotline at 1199.
