Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Cause Electric Poles and Billboards to Fall on Vehicles, Blocking Traffic in Multiple Areas

Following heavy rain and strong winds in Bangkok, electric poles and billboards fell onto vehicles and blocked traffic at several points. Initially, one person was reported injured. Officials are rushing to provide assistance and resolve the situation.

On 26 June 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that after heavy rain and strong winds affected several areas in the late afternoon, at 17:50 GMT+7, an electric pole collapsed onto a car and obstructed traffic in Soi Chalong Krung 45. Fire and rescue teams from Lat Krabang station quickly responded to the scene.

At the scene, about 10 to 15 electric poles were found toppled in a line, crushing houses and vehicles. One person was initially reported injured there. Officials, volunteers, district officers, and Metropolitan Electricity Authority staff were assisting with the rescue efforts amid heavy traffic congestion.

At 18:14 GMT+7, a billboard collapsed onto the roof of a parking lot near Wat Sarot. Fire and rescue personnel from Rat Burana station arrived to inspect and found a billboard measuring 25 by 30 meters had fallen onto vehicles parked in a private company's lot. Damaged vehicles included two six-wheel trucks, four private cars, and three motorcycles. No injuries were reported. Firefighters, electricity authority staff, municipal officials, and local volunteers were working on the incident.

Moreover, due to the heavy rain and strong winds affecting many parts of Bangkok, besides the fallen poles in Lat Krabang and the billboard collapse near Wat Sarot's parking lot, other locations also experienced billboards falling onto vehicles and blocking traffic at multiple points.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
