Nestlé Invests 23 Billion Baht to Build New Coffee Factory and Warehouse in Samut Prakan Province

Nestlé is investing 23 billion baht to build a new factory producing various Nescafé coffee products in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand, along with a modern distribution center, supported by the Board of Investment (BOI).

On 9 July, reporters reported that Nestlé, a food and beverage company, announced an investment of 23 billion baht to build a new Nescafé factory in Samut Prakan Province, Thailand. The factory will produce key Nescafé products including instant coffee powder, premixed coffee powder, and canned ready-to-drink coffee. It will feature advanced manufacturing technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to elevate quality standards, improve efficiency, and support environmentally sustainable operations. The site will also include a distribution center handling a wide range of Nestlé products. The project is expected to create over 520 jobs in Thailand, covering technology experts as well as skilled mid- and high-level workers.

Mr. Nikil Shahn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé Indochina, said Thailand has been an important market for Nestlé for over 130 years. This investment reflects confidence in Thailand and reaffirms Nestlé's commitment to benefiting Thai society, economy, communities, and the environment. The investment project includes a coffee production factory equipped with advanced technology and a distribution center supporting various Nestlé products. It will incorporate the latest technology and artificial intelligence to produce high-quality products and boost operational efficiency for the benefit of consumers and customers. The new coffee factory will use significant innovation, raw materials, and supplies sourced domestically, including coffee beans, sugar, and raw milk from Thai farmers, to support agriculture and local economic development.

The value of raw materials and supplies sourced within Thailand for this new factory is estimated at approximately 4.3 billion baht per year. The project has received investment promotion from the Board of Investment (BOI) and aligns with the national goals to drive the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy. The new factory is expected to start operations in the latter part of 2028.

Mr. Nikil added that the factory will install Nestlé’s most advanced coffee extraction technology, modern coffee aroma preservation technology, as well as advanced automation systems including robotics and an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) for storing and selecting products. Additionally, it will feature artificial intelligence and advanced process control systems to enhance efficiency, quality, and stability at every stage of production within the factory.

This investment reflects Nestlé’s ongoing commitment to creating value for Thailand. Between 2018 and 2025, Nestlé has invested more than 27.8 billion baht to expand production capabilities across key product groups, including beverages and pet food. Nestlé has also been a major buyer of Robusta coffee beans in Thailand for over four decades and continues to support local farmers through knowledge transfer and distribution of quality coffee seedlings developed by Nestlé’s Coffee Research Center. Furthermore, Nestlé promotes expanding coffee cultivation areas to various regions of the country to meet rising coffee consumption and to reduce the shortfall of domestic coffee supply relative to industrial demand.. Building this new factory marks an important step for Nestlé in fulfilling its commitment to deliver high-quality products to consumers while contributing to the long-term economic and social development of Thailand.
