Royal Command Announces the Elevation of Eight Monks to Somdet Phra Rajakhana Rank

The Royal Gazette website published the King’s royal command announcing the elevation of eight monks to the rank of Somdet Phra Rajakhana, recognizing their great contributions to Buddhism.

On 14 July 2026, the Royal Gazette published a proclamation stating that His Majesty King Rama X has graciously ordered the announcement that monks holding ecclesiastical titles with significant contributions to Buddhism are deemed worthy of higher ecclesiastical rank and have therefore been elevated.

1. Phra Phrom Wachiramongkol has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed in the golden certificate as Somdet Phra Yan Wachiramongkol Sophon Priyat Vithan Warakit Wijitpapajan Waranusarn Pilas Wipasana Yan Preecha Paisan Sasanakit Dilok Tripitaka Waralongkon Thammayutikanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Rajathiwas Vihara, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

2. Phra Phrom Wachirathibodi has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Maha Wachirathibodi Sri Maha Chulalongkorn Saphanaiyok Dilok Withet Sasanakit Wisit Wipasana Thurathorn Sangwornsila Samachaniwith Wijit Thammakatha Sunthon Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

3. Phra Phrom Wachiramuni has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Suttharasa Wachiramuni Sri Priyat Kitkosol Sophon Sasanakit Pithan Kunalangkan Thammanausit Pipit Thammasathak Tripitaka Bandit Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Suthat Thepwararam Rajaworamahavihara, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

4. Phra Phrom Wachirakorn has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Phuttha Wachirakorn Sunthorn Wipasana Yan Sophon Kosol Nawakamkit Thada Wisut Chariya Khun Samut Pipat Thammasakit Dilok Sathak Tham Wichit Thammayutikanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Rajapatikararam Worawihan, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

5. Phra Phrom Dilok has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Maha Wachirakun Dilok Sri Priyat Nayok Kanathorn Boworn Papajanusit Wijit Thammapatiphan Paisan Phatthana Kikaree Tripitaka Bandit Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Sam Phraya, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

6. Phra Phrom Moli has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Wachirattanamoli Sri Priyat Vithan Wiset Withet Sasanakit Prathan Wimon Silachaniwith Wijit Thammakatha Sathak Tripitaka Bandit Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Paknam, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

7. Phra Phrom Sitthi has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Wachir Sitthachan Paisan Withet Sasanakit Wisit Thammakun Aphirak Akkarat Sattha Pasatakon Boworn Silachaniwith Pipit Thammakun Sunthon Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at Wat Sra Ket Rajaworamahavihara, a royal temple in Bangkok. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

8. Phra Phrom Phatcharayanmuni has been elevated to Somdet Phra Rajakhana with the official title inscribed as Somdet Phra Maha Patcharayanmuni Sri Wipasana Phawanakosol Sophon Thammanusit Wijit Thammapatiphan Paisan Withet Kitthada Susee La Chan Wat Suthon Maha Kanissorn Boworn Sangharam Kamwasi Aranyawasi, residing at the Ban Rai Tho Si monastic residence in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. He is granted the authority to appoint 10 subordinate monks.

This has been effective since 12 July 2026.
