At 13:30 on 18 July 2026, the official opening ceremony of the Sports Excellence Promotion Project for fiscal year 2026 was held at Island Hall, 3rd floor, Fashion Island Shopping Mall, Bangkok. Ms. Panida Kaewmak, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, presided over the ceremony, joined by Mr. Santi Lothong, President of the Esports Association of Thailand, Bangkok city executives, private sector representatives, over 1,000 athletes, and honored guests. The BANGKOK ESPORTS 2026 competition took place from 18 to 19 July 2026, featuring 112 teams and more than 1,000 athletes from across the country. The competition included four games: Arena of Valor (ROV), Free Fire, FC Online, and Street Fighter 6.
This competition aims to promote productive use of free time and develop skills in technology, creativity, planning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. It also provides opportunities for esports athletes to enhance their potential for national and international competitions.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is confident that hosting BANGKOK ESPORTS 2026 will be a significant step in promoting esports as a constructive activity for youth, developing essential skills, and building cooperative networks among government, private sector, and sports organizations to jointly advance Thailand's esports industry toward sustainable growth.
