Large waste items such as old mattresses, worn-out furniture, broken appliances, or bulky unused objects often cause headaches for Bangkok residents because they cannot be disposed of with regular household trash. This sometimes leads to illegal dumping in vacant lots or canals, negatively impacting the environment and obstructing Bangkok’s drainage system.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has therefore continued to push forward its cleanliness and city organization policy, unveiling locations for the “Scheduled Large Waste Drop-off and Collection” from 25 to 26 July 2026, across 27 districts, to facilitate residents in disposing of large unused items free of charge.

Residents should place large waste and unused items outside their homes before 8:30 a.m. to await collection by staff between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the scheduled days.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration plans to deploy staff to collect large waste in targeted areas on 25-26 July, dividing operations over two days by district office coordinates as follows:
Residents are advised to sort their large waste before disposal, such as furniture, electrical appliances, and sports equipment over 1 meter, which should be cut into smaller pieces. Heavy parts should be separated, and smaller waste tied together neatly. Prepare your ID card to show staff (electricity or water bills are also acceptable).
1. Bring waste to designated collection points.
2. Present identification or proof of ownership.
3. Staff will transport waste to disposal sites free of charge.

Warning: Illegal dumping obstructs Bangkok’s drainage and violates the Cleanliness Act, with fines starting at 2,000 baht.Ifwaste is dumped outside containers or designated points, fines can reach 10,000 baht. Dumping into waterways is punishable under Criminal Code Section 380.
