On 28 July 2026, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) explained the incident of a building collapse during demolition at Soi Prachasongkhro 28, Din Daeng district, on the evening of 27 July 2026, confirming no injuries or deaths, and ordered contractors to clear the area quickly.
The incident occurred during demolition work on an expropriated building to prepare for the Orange Line metro construction between Bang Khun Non and the Thailand Cultural Centre. Initial investigations found the collapse followed the demolition line. At the time, a supervisor was present, and safety barriers were properly set up according to law, so no civilians were in the work zone. However, some zinc materials used to enclose the building fell into adjacent residents’ properties.
MRTA has instructed the project consultants and contractors to secure the incident area and warn the public to avoid the vicinity for safety. Officials were sent to remove the materials encroaching on neighboring properties and to restore the site promptly. MRTA emphasized that contractors must proceed with caution and strictly adhere to maximum safety measures at every construction stage.
MRTA apologizes for the incident and will collaborate with consultants and contractors to establish measures preventing recurrence, aiming to build public confidence and ensure maximum safety.
