The Criminal Court awarded prizes for the short film contest titled 'Visualizing the Law: Stop Sexual Harassment Through Media,' with Ayutthaya Wittayalai School winning the first prize.
On 7 Aug 2023 GMT+7 at the Criminal Court, an award ceremony was held for the short film contest 'Visualizing the Law: Stop Sexual Harassment Through Media.' Chief Judge Jeerapat Pantavee of the Criminal Court presented awards to the participating teams. The first prize winner was the Always be A.Y.W team from Ayutthaya Wittayalai School, consisting of seven members, receiving 10,000 baht. Two runner-up prizes went to the Freedom Beyond Screen team from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Kuk Kuk Kai team from the Bar Association of Thailand.
Jeerapat explained that the project aims to promote public understanding of the process protecting victims of sexual harassment, as well as awareness of their rights, duties, and protective measures under Criminal Code Sections 284/1 to 284/4, through creatively produced short films or video clips. The project aligns with the Justice Court’s 2026–2029 strategic plan and the Supreme Court President’s “Morality Leads the Way” policy, which promotes legal knowledge, justice processes, and the rule of law to the public. It also supports the “Justice Court for the People” initiative to ensure all groups have broad access to legal knowledge.
Judge Ratthawit Ariyaphatphon, head of the Criminal Technology Crime Division at the Criminal Court, stated that sexual offenses now occur in many forms, affecting victims of all genders and ages. These include direct acts, dissemination of pornographic material, and harassment via computer systems, all of which impact victims physically and psychologically. The Criminal Code has added offenses related to “sexual harassment” to cover current criminal behaviors and includes protective measures to safeguard victims’ rights under the law.
