
The Royal Gazette published a royal decree announcing the elevation of Phra Tham Wachiradilok to Phra Phrom Wachiramuni, deputy ecclesiastical chief, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Buddhism.
On 17 Aug 2026 GMT+7, the websiteThe Royal Gazettepublished a royal decree appointing Phra Tham Wachiradilok by His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.
The decree stated that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, the King, issued a royal command noting that monks who hold ecclesiastical titles and have greatly contributed to Buddhism deserve to be promoted to higher ranks.
Therefore, His Majesty graciously appointed Phra Tham Wachiradilok as deputy ecclesiastical chief with the ecclesiastical title inscribed on the royal certificate as Phra Phrom Wachiramuṇi Sri Priyatkit Witthān Sasana Parathuradilok Sathak Thammavichit Tripitaka Bandit Mahakanisorn Bowon Sangharam Kamawasi, holding the Brahma rank, residing at Wat Suthat Thepwararam Ratchaworamahawihan, a royal temple in Bangkok, with authority to establish eight ranks.
He is requested to undertake the duties of Buddhism, including teaching, resolving disputes, and supporting monks and novices within his community and temple as appropriate to his capacity and bestowed rank. May he enjoy longevity, good literacy, health, intelligence, virtue, and well-being in Buddhism.
This appointment is effective from 16 August 2026 GMT+7.
