On 28 Aug 2016, reporters covered the fire at Khlong Thom Center on Worachak Road. Inside the building, explosions occurred intermittently due to the prolonged, widespread fire. Firefighters have yet to control the blaze, and flames were visible at the rear of the building.
At 21:35, reports confirmed that the Khlong Thom Center building had started to collapse, though there were no injuries reported.
At 22:01, officials managing the incident reported that the fire continued to burn within Khlong Thom Center but had not spread to nearby buildings. The building contained many fuels including plastics, gas shops, and electronic equipment. Firefighters successfully contained the fire near the Chao Kham Rob Road side, preventing further spread.
Authorities have advised residents living near the fire site to evacuate to safe areas as a precaution.
