Bangkok authorities updated that the fire at Khlong Thom Center has been extinguished at all points since 05:32 GMT+7, though water is still being sprayed to keep it under control. Meanwhile, the Pom Prap Sattru Phai District Office has announced the registration steps for disaster assistance and the documents needed.
On 29 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters provided an update on the fire incident inside Khlong Thom Center on Worachak Road, Pom Prap Sattru Phai District, which began around 20:30 on 28 Aug 2026 GMT+7. The fire occurred in a three-story building covering about 2 rai (approximately 0.8 acres). The ground floor consisted of about 700-800 stalls selling electrical appliances, car parts, car accessories, and CCTV cameras. The second floor was a parking area and partly rented as a warehouse, and the third floor was also a parking area with over 20 cars parked.
The fire rapidly spread inside the zone because most goods were solar panels and plastics. Explosions were heard intermittently. Shop owners and employees hurriedly moved goods out of their stores. Authorities cut the power before launching a large-scale water spray. The operation was difficult as the fire quickly spread to the second and third floors. The floor was made of asphalt, which caught fire easily and melted, dripping down, preventing firefighters from entering the interior. The fire burned for over three hours, causing the second and third floors to collapse along with more than 20 cars parked inside. After over four hours, the fire was still not under control, with about 90 percent damage reported.
Most recently, at 05:32 GMT+7, Bangkok authorities reported that the fire inside Khlong Thom Center was fully extinguished. There were no fatalities reported. Further details are under investigation. Meanwhile, Bangkok is preparing a team of doctors, nurses, and multidisciplinary professionals to visit the site this morning to provide physical and mental health care to affected residents.
Regarding traffic, normal movement is possible with no road closures reported.
