A young female teacher was found dead inside a car parked in front of a convenience store in the Ramkhamhaeng area. A letter was found citing the reason as distress over her boyfriend, a prospective Second Lieutenant, refusing to accept paternity of her child. The body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Reporters stated that on 30 Aug 2016, Police Lieutenant Colonel Banyong Daengruang, an investigator at Huamark Police Station, received a report of a death inside a car parked in front of a convenience store in Soi Ramkhamhaeng 60, Huamark Subdistrict, Bangkapi District, Bangkok. He coordinated with Police Colonel Prasopchok Iampinit, chief of Huamark Police Station, forensic officials, forensic doctors from the Police General Hospital, and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation.
At the scene, a red Mazda 2 sedan with Bangkok license plates was found. On the driver's seat lay the body of Ms. Waritthaporn (surname withheld), 25, from Samut Prakan province, wearing a white short-sleeve shirt with black polka dots and gray shorts. She had been deceased for about 10 hours. On the floor by the rear seat footwell was a charcoal brazier with burnt-out embers.
Inside the car, a letter was found expressing gratitude to her parents for raising and supporting her education to become a teacher despite financial hardship. The letter explained that she was distressed because her boyfriend, named "New," whom she had dated for two years, did not accept being the father of her unborn child.
Investigations revealed that Ms. Waritthaporn was a teacher at an elementary school in the Bangkhen area and lived in a condominium near the scene. On the evening of 27 Aug, she had reported to Huamark Police Station that her boyfriend, prospective Second Lieutenant Natthaphon (surname withheld), had physically assaulted her in their apartment.
On the day of the incident, a convenience store customer noticed the deceased sitting with her head down on the driver's seat for an unusually long time. After knocking and receiving no response, the customer alerted authorities to check.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Banyong said the preliminary cause appeared to be distress over her boyfriend’s refusal to accept paternity, leading to this act. Authorities handed the body to foundation volunteers to transport to the Police General Hospital for autopsy, and the family was contacted to collect the body for religious rites.
