CKPower is progressing in the second half of the year with the commercial operation date (COD) of a solar power project adding 5 MW, supported by water factors; XPCL and NN2 are ready, and BIC has resumed full operation.
On 8 September 2026, Mr. Thanawat Treewisawavet, Managing Director of CK Power Public Company Limited (CKPower, stock symbol: CKP), one of the largest renewable energy producers in the region with one of the lowest carbon footprints, revealed the company’s operational direction for the second half of 2026. The company has commenced commercial operations for an additional 5-megawatt solar power project in collaboration with Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM) in September. This increases the company’s renewable energy capacity, supports the adoption of renewable energy in the country’s transport and infrastructure systems, and continues to expand opportunities for clean energy business growth.
At the same time, CKPower continues to closely monitor water conditions. In the first six months of 2026, water flow through the Xayaburi Hydropower Plant exceeded the same period last year by 17.7%, resulting in an 11.2% increase in electricity sales, reflecting Mekong River water conditions favorable for power generation in the first half of the year.
For the second half of the year, CKPower assesses that water conditions will continue to support electricity production at Xayaburi Power Company Limited (XPCL) due to rainfall in the Mekong River basin and expected high water releases from upstream areas. It is anticipated that water releases from upstream regions in China will remain high from October to early November and may increase at times in December, supporting Mekong River water levels in Q4.
The company estimates that toward the end of the year, especially in Q4/2026, water flow through the Xayaburi hydropower plant will likely be good and slightly above average. CKPower continues to closely monitor the situation through the Hydrometeorological Monitoring and Forecasting System to improve the accuracy of water volume forecasts and electricity production planning.
Regarding Nam Ngum 2 Power Company Limited (NN2), the usable water volume in the reservoir at the end of July 2026 was 32.53% of usable capacity, with room for additional water inflow during the rainy season. In the remainder of Q3, inflows are expected to increase due to seasonal rains and upstream conditions, which will help ensure sufficient water for power generation in the second half, according to the company’s operational plans after carefully managing power readiness announcements in the first half of the year.
As for Bang Pa-In Cogeneration Company Limited (BIC), following maintenance in Q1, the plant has now returned to full production capacity, supporting electricity generation and sales in the second half of the year.
Mr. Thanawat stated, “In the second half of the year, CKPower benefits from several factors: new production capacity from the solar project with BEM, favorable water conditions supporting XPCL’s power generation, increasing water levels at NN2, and BIC’s return to normal operations after planned maintenance. These enhance the overall portfolio’s production capability. The company will focus on maximizing efficiency of existing assets while gradually adding renewable energy capacity to support continuous business growth and strengthen the energy portfolio over the long term.”
