Progress in the Rama 3 oil spill incident: Authorities continue strict area control after locating the oil leak point. Repair efforts are underway, and the pipeline company has been ordered to expedite the fix while taking full responsibility for all damages and impacts.
Today (10 Sep 2026), reports indicate that the atmosphere around Chuea Phloeng Road beneath the Rama 3 elevated bridge, bordering Khlong Toei and Yannawa districts, remains under control by multiple agencies closely monitoring the fuel-contaminated water in the drainage system.
Yesterday, officials excavated to inspect the pipeline route and successfully found the oil leak point. The pipeline company was instructed to promptly proceed with repairs and to be accountable for all resulting damage and effects.
Regarding safety measures, officials continue 24-hour monitoring and measurement of flammable vapors, control the work area, and ask the public to avoid smoking or creating sparks nearby.
Previously, officials pumped out approximately 22,000 liters of contaminated water from the system, sending it for treatment according to standards. The latest report states the oil slick has reduced to a thin film with a weakened odor, and there is no need to evacuate nearby residents.
Authorities will closely monitor the situation until the leak repairs and area restoration are fully completed.
