The State Railway of Thailand explains that a shunting locomotive collided with a passenger train within the long-distance railway yard (Phahonyothin area), resulting in one employee injury.
Today (25 Sep 2026), the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) clarified the incident where diesel shunting locomotive number 4025 collided with a passenger train set of train number 32 on the Hat Yai–Bangkok Apiwat route, which was stationary inside the long-distance railway yard (Phahonyothin area). The collision caused some passenger carriages to be damaged and injured one railway employee.
After the incident, SRT promptly provided assistance and transported the injured employee to the hospital for treatment, closely monitoring their condition. Meanwhile, officials secured the area, inspected the damage, and arranged to move the damaged carriages to restore normal operations within the yard as soon as possible.
SRT has instructed all relevant departments to thoroughly investigate the facts and sequence of events, covering operational procedures, vehicle movement control within the area, the condition and readiness of the locomotive, equipment, signaling systems, and other related systems to establish the cause based on factual evidence.
This incident occurred within the operational area of the long-distance railway yard and did not affect train services or passenger travel.
SRT confirms that the safety of passengers, railway employees, and train operations is its top priority. It will conduct a straightforward and comprehensive investigation of this incident and ensure all departments strictly adhere to safety standards and procedures.
