The flood situation in Bangkok has recently resulted in another death: a bedridden patient drowned inside his home in Lat Krabang district, with floodwaters surrounding the entire house.
At 11:30 a.m. on 28 Sep 2026, Police Lieutenant Thoranin Thanet, deputy investigation officer at Chorakhe Noi Police Station, received a report of a man drowned inside a home on Lat Krabang Soi 13/1, Lat Krabang subdistrict and district, Bangkok. He went to the scene with patrol officers, a forensic doctor from the Police General Hospital, and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation.
The scene was a two-story house, half concrete and half wood, surrounded by floodwater. Inside near the front door, the body of 61-year-old Yuthana Huadwijit was found lying on his back in about 50 cm of water, wearing a blue soccer jersey. He had been dead for approximately 4 to 5 hours. There were no signs of assault on the body, and no evidence of disturbance inside the house.
During questioning, 81-year-old Sanan Chandang, the victim’s brother-in-law, said Yuthana was bedridden. His wife had passed away less than a year ago. Normally, they lived together, but on the day of the incident, Yuthana was alone while Sanan stayed temporarily with a friend nearby. Upon returning home around 9 a.m., he found Yuthana drowned in water at the front door and immediately called rescue and police officers to investigate.
Authorities initially suspect that Yuthana tried to get up to retrieve something, fainted, fell into the water, and was unable to help himself, resulting in drowning inside the house. The body was handed over to Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers for transport to the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine for a detailed autopsy.
