Turbo Pipes Aid Romklao Housing Project, Lat Krabang Area to Drain Water into Pravet Canal, Bangkok Speeds Up Recovery of Eastern Side

Bangkok uses "turbo pipes" to accelerate water drainage in Romklao Housing Community, Lat Krabang, drawing stagnant water into Pravet Canal. Simultaneously, flood barriers are being constructed at weak points to prevent water from flowing back into the area, expediting recovery of the eastern side.

At 07:30 on 2 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt of Bangkok reported that no additional rain had fallen. The rain yesterday afternoon mostly fell on Thonburi side with about 90 millimeters, while flood-affected areas received around 30 millimeters, so it did not significantly impact the water situation.

Overall, the water situation has improved, with most main roads reopening. Only some alleys and community areas remain flooded. Bangkok continues to expedite drainage on the eastern side, especially Lat Krabang and Romklao housing community, through Pravet Buriram Canal to lower water levels.

At Romklao Housing Community in Lat Krabang, a large area with many residents, Bangkok deployed "turbo pipes," equipment to speed water drainage. Pumps and turbo pipes are installed and flood barriers are being built at vulnerable points to prevent backflow and improve pumping efficiency. Water is being drawn into one canal before being pushed onward to Pravet Buriram Canal.

In Saphan Sung district, conditions along Ramkhamhaeng Road have improved at multiple points including the Revenue Department office, Sammakorn Village, Buakhao Village, Perfect Place Village, and Athletes' Village. Some water remains at Rat Phatthana Road (Mistin Alley), linking Ramkhamhaeng Road to Romklao Housing Community. Bangkok will enhance drainage efficiency and restore these areas quickly.

At Khlong Chan Housing Community in Bang Kapi, where "turbo pipes" were previously used to accelerate drainage, water levels have now receded to ground level, reflecting successful adaptation of the drainage system to local conditions.

On Nawamin Road, conditions have clearly improved after Bangkok accelerated water pumping from Phang Phueai Canal into Saen Saep Canal, causing continuous water level reduction. Increased water levels yesterday in Lat Phrao and Bang Bua were due to opening an additional gate at Canal 2 to expedite drainage for Pathum Thani province. Bangkok is carefully managing water release while closely monitoring levels to avoid impacting residents along the canals.

Main roads with improved conditions and restored traffic include Khlong Chan Housing, Chalerm Phrakiat Rama 9, Setthasiri, Suwinthawong (Min Buri Prison–Nimit Mai Intersection), Krungthep Kreetha (Soi 11–55), Sihaburanukit (Min Buri Police Station–Romklao), Phaya Suren, Seri Thai, Sukhaphiban 5, Rat Phatthana, Phatthanakan, Thepharak, Permsin, and Watcharaphon.

Flooded areas still requiring caution include the border between Pathum Thani and Bangkok, Phahonyothin Road near the Memorial and Thupatemi Stadium, Phaya Suren Road from Panya Indra to Soi 31, including Soi 25–43 and Soi 15–15/1, sections of Srinagarindra Road especially under the inbound Motorway, Suwinthawong Road from Muang Min intersection to prison, Sihaburanukit Electric Intersection, Krungthep Kreetha Road from Soi 41–55, and also On Nut, Luang Phraeng, and Chalong Krung roads.

Governor Chadchart stated, "Bangkok's critical mission today is to accelerate water extraction from Pravet Buriram Canal to increase capacity for receiving water from Lat Krabang and the eastern side of Bangkok. We are also intensifying pumping from Romklao Housing Community and surrounding areas, and expediting recovery in Saphan Sung and the entire eastern area to restore normal conditions."

Additionally, this morning Bangkok has added pumps at Sahakorn Village to boost drainage efficiency. Yesterday, Deputy Governor Wisanu Subsompon visited Suan Son Village to monitor the situation, coordinate problem-solving, and improve drainage effectiveness in the area.

Bangkok continues to deploy personnel, pumps, and machinery to resolve flooding, prioritizing communities and residents most affected. Those facing flood problems or needing assistance, especially patients, the elderly, and those with mobility challenges, can contact Bangkok via hotline 1555 or Line: @TraffyFondue to enable officials to inspect and provide prompt help."
