Bangkok Mobilizes Forces to Restore Khlong Chan Housing Estate Expected Normalcy in 2 Days

Bangkok has mobilized 250 personnel and 20 vehicles to expedite restoration of the Khlong Chan housing estate in Bang Kapi district following receding water levels. Using the “2+1” approach, forces from unaffected districts have been called in to support, with completion expected within about two days.

On 3 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Governor Chadchart Sittipunt of Bangkok, accompanied by Deputy Governor Pornprom Na S. Wikitseth, visited the site to monitor restoration efforts at the Khlong Chan housing estate in Bang Kapi district after water levels dropped.

Bangkok has deployed around 250 staff along with machinery and equipment from the Bangkok Metropolitan Environment Office and Bang Kapi district office, totaling about 20 vehicles including trucks, water trucks, and garbage compactors, to quickly collect waste, debris, and damaged items and to wash the area. The operation is expected to take about two days.

Governor Chadchart stated that post-flood restoration must proceed systematically. Bangkok is applying the “2+1” approach by mobilizing personnel from unaffected districts to assist affected areas. For Khlong Chan housing estate, support comes from Bang Kho Laem and Taling Chan district offices to increase staff and hasten the return to normal use.

Regarding the work, officials divide the area into zones along alleyways, starting by collecting trash and items placed by residents along the roadside, then washing and cleaning. Residents are asked to place trash in designated spots for continuous collection. Trash locations can be reported via Traffy Fondue’s problem reporting menu or by calling hotline 1555.

Governor Chadchart also said this operation will serve as a model for restoring other areas. Bangkok will adapt the personnel deployment, machinery and equipment management, and work procedures to suit each area, ensuring faster and more efficient restoration.

Meanwhile, Bangkok continues to accelerate water drainage in the eastern areas, especially in Lat Krabang district, where water recedes slowly due to large accumulations. In Bang Kapi district’s Ruam Rood Chat community, officials are entering to expedite cleaning, while some residents remain in shelters.

Additionally, Governor Chadchart instructed officials to take care of workers’ food and living conditions and to monitor and assist vulnerable groups, especially bedridden patients, to ensure they receive proper help.

Bangkok will continue restoration efforts by coordinating personnel, machinery, and community cooperation to progressively return Khlong Chan housing estate and other affected areas to normal conditions, enabling residents to resume daily life as soon as possible.
