“Tawida” clearly explained the conditions for relief disbursement, affirming that a “land title deed” is not a mandatory document. Residents can immediately submit existing proof of rights. Adjustments to conditions are planned after people experienced difficulties uploading photos. Meanwhile, “Pornprom” announced a large-scale waste collection operation at "Romklao" tomorrow, with plans to hire private contractors to assist.
On 6 Oct 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Tawida Kamolwech and Mr. Pornprom Wikitset, Deputy Governors of Bangkok, provided updates on flood relief efforts. Some areas still have water levels of 15-25 centimeters, with the deepest spots around 50 centimeters, such as Flora Ville Village in Nong Chok District and the Romklao housing area. The BMA is intensifying support by distributing survival bags, setting up medical service units, and continuously pumping water from flooded zones.
Regarding progress on relief fund registration for affected residents, Ms. Tawida said over 522,000 people have registered through the government’s application. Their documents and household registration data are under review to prevent duplication. Additionally, 50,300 have applied via the Claim.bangkok system, and 2,498 have submitted applications directly at district offices. BMA has assigned officials from unaffected districts as “buddies” to expedite document processing and opened 22 additional online registration assistance centers.
Addressing concerns about requiring “land title deeds” for applications, it was clearly confirmed that the deed is not mandatory. Residents may submit existing identification documents such as household registrations, lease agreements, or ownership certificates. BMA will request land title deeds only if the existing evidence is unclear. If the deed is unavailable, the district office can issue a certification letter as a substitute.
Regarding restoration, cleaning, and waste collection, Mr. Pornprom said BMA has received support from the military, Department of Corrections, and BMA staff to collect large waste along roadsides and within communities. They have adjusted transportation plans by establishing waste transfer points and deploying 30-ton trailers and heavy waste-grabbing machinery from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to reduce travel time to distant landfills, speeding up collection efforts.
Furthermore, BMA has opened temporary waste disposal points, such as at Bueng Thonglang Temple and Romklao housing, where residents can directly bring waste for disposal. Waste disposal sites and the Big Cleaning plan can be checked at cleaner.bangkok.go.th. Once waste collection in each area is complete, BMA will immediately deploy water-spraying trucks to clean the area so residents can resume normal life as quickly as possible.
Regarding proposals to have private companies assist with waste collection, BMA acknowledged this idea is under consideration. They are reviewing procurement regulations, conditions, and budgets because, during emergencies, such measures have been taken before. The BMA’s manpower might be insufficient to handle the large volume and size of waste generated after the flooding.
