The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation have extended the flood relief application deadline to 30 November 2026. They have added service points in five main districts to reduce crowding and facilitate residents so they do not have to visit district offices in person.
On 19 October 2026, Ms. Tawida Kamolwetch, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, updated on flood relief efforts in Bangkok. She said the administration recognizes that many areas have only recently dried up, making travel difficult for residents who are still cleaning their homes. Some communities still have standing floodwater, so residents may struggle to gather documents and submit applications via government apps or district offices promptly.
Therefore, Bangkok has partnered with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to extend the deadline for relief applications through district offices, government apps, or the website claim.bangkok.go.th until 30 November 2026. This extension allows residents more time to collect and verify documents clearly. They can submit documents in person at district offices or online via email or the district office Line OA, providing convenience and reducing the need for physical visits.
Deputy Governor Tawida said Bangkok has addressed heavy application volumes especially in the top five districts—Sai Mai, Khlong Sam Wa, Lat Krabang, Min Buri, and Bang Kapi—by adding physical service points to expand application intake areas. This helps residents travel shorter distances and reduces queue congestion.
In Sai Mai district, which faced complaints about queue management, the district office increased the number of computers for application approvals to 60 to speed up processing. Sai Mai ranks first in approval speed for relief cases.
Currently, about 60% of all applications submitted via Sai Mai’s app have been approved. The district is also considering adding more physical service points, similar to Khlong Sam Wa, which opened an additional site at Wat Prayasu Rent school to ease morning queue congestion.
Residents are advised that if they finish work early and can come in the afternoon, queues tend to move faster in several districts such as Lat Krabang, Don Mueang, and Sai Mai, where staff can serve applicants immediately. With extended hours, added service points, and more staff, residents need not rush to queue early in the morning and can come at staggered times.
Deputy Governor Tawida said Bangkok is expediting relief payments to alleviate hardship. However, upon reviewing documents, some residences were found to be government housing, which according to cabinet resolutions, are ineligible for relief payments. Therefore, district offices must recover those funds from recipients.
Many residents have cooperated by returning funds via Krungthai NEXT or by contacting district offices directly. For those who have already spent the money on home repairs and wish to repay, they can visit district offices to request installment plans. Bangkok will forward these requests to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation for approval and will notify residents once approved.
