Faith Overflows in Silom! Navaratri 2026 Grand Procession on Vijayadashami Day, Deities Carried Out of Wat Khaek

The "Navaratri 2026" festival held a grand procession on Vijayadashami Day, carrying the deities out of Wat Khaek. Devotees, both Thai and foreign, enthusiastically joined the event.

On 20 October 2026, reporters described the atmosphere at the "Navaratri 2026" festival at Wat Phra Sri Maha Uma Devi, also known as Wat Khaek, in Silom. The event runs from 10 to 22 October 2026, attracting a large number of both Thai and foreign devotees.

The main highlight today was the traditional procession for Vijayadashami Day, starting at 7:30 p.m. The procession reflected deep faith and a long-standing cultural heritage, enlivening Silom and its surrounding areas as a gathering spot for people coming to pay respects and experience this important annual tradition.

The Navaratri festival is an important Hindu tradition honoring the Great Goddess, especially Goddess Durga, Goddess Uma, and related deities according to devotees' beliefs. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil and is a time when devotees participate in prayers and rituals to seek blessings for prosperity, family, and career.

This year’s Navaratri began on 10 October with worship of Lord Ganesha, followed by ceremonies honoring various deities and the Great Goddess in sequence. On 17 October, a ritual wedding was held between Lord Shiva and Goddess Sri Maha Uma Devi, and on 19 October, worship was dedicated to Goddess Sri Maha Saraswati.

The festival will continue until 22 October, concluding with the lowering of the Singha flag and the bathing ceremonies of the Brahmin priests and mediums, marking the end of the 2026 annual faith festival.
