Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan is opening participation for inscribing names on the "Golden Mountain Red Cloth" for the year 2026, starting from 27 October onward.
On 27 October 2026, Wat Saket invited Buddhists to inscribe their full names on the red cloth in preparation for its ceremonial draping over the Phra Borommaratchamongkol (Golden Mountain) stupa for 2026. The name inscriptions are open starting 27 October 2026 at Sala Bamphen Kuson 2.
The inaugural ceremony of offering nine red cloths will take place on 27 October 2026 after the Tak Bat Theworohana almsgiving ceremony at 09:00, also allowing the public to inscribe their names for blessings.
The "Golden Mountain Red Cloth Draping" is a sacred ceremony continued since King Rama V's era. Each year on the 8th day of the waxing moon of the 12th lunar month, Wat Saket holds the important ceremony called the “Red Cloth Draping on Phra Borommaratchamongkol” during the annual worship of the Buddha’s relics at the Golden Mountain stupa.
This ceremony has been practiced since King Rama V's reign with the belief that draping the sacred red cloth over the relic stupa invokes the power of worship and brings peace, prosperity, progress in life, and protection from various dangers.
Red symbolizes auspiciousness and prosperity. The red cloth also represents a grand celebration. Offering the red cloth is an act of reverence to the Buddha’s relics enshrined within the Phra Borommaratchamongkol stupa, which generates merit and brings peace and happiness to oneself, family, and the nation. This tradition has been faithfully maintained to the present day.
To continue this tradition, the ceremony of draping the red cloth on the Phra Borommaratchamongkol stupa will be held on Tuesday, 17 November 2026, starting at 06:00. The annual worship event for the Buddha’s relics at Wat Saket’s Golden Mountain will run from 17 to 26 November 2026.
