Huachiew Chalermprakiet University introduced Professor Dr. Supoj Techaworasinsakul as its new president, emphasizing three development strategies to keep pace with global changes in the world.
On Friday, 6 Nov 2026 GMT+7, at Seminar Room 1 of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University, Yotse, the appointment of Professor Dr. Supoj Techaworasinsakul as the 7th president was announced, along with the university’s strategic direction aimed at driving transformation and enhancing the capacity for education, research, and social services to meet the challenges of the modern world.
The event was honored by Associate Professor Dr. Jeeradech Usawat, Chairman of the University Council, who welcomed and congratulated the new president. Representatives from the Po Tek Tung Foundation, led by Mr. Wichit Chinwongsaworakul, the 4th Vice Chairman, and the University Council led by Emeritus Professor Dr. Sahas Banditkul, advisor, were present. Also attending were representatives from Huachiew Hospital and the Huachiew Chinese Medicine Clinic, including Ms. Sirikul Opaswong, 2nd Vice Chairperson; Ms. Praphatsorn Rujirakornsakul, CEO; and Ms. Lu Meikui, Deputy Director of International Cooperation. University executives, led by Associate Professor Dr. Uraipan Janwanichyanont, also joined to offer congratulations and support as he began his leadership role.
Professor Dr. Supoj Techaworasinsakul outlined his management direction, defining the university’s key mission as advancing to keep up with global changes in technology, demographics, and labor market demands through three major initiatives:
1. Reforming learning with AI to develop graduates who think critically and are future-ready.
The focus is on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) as a key tool to elevate teaching and learning, shifting assessment from knowledge measurement to critical analysis and questioning. It aims to cultivate students’ imagination, deep understanding, and judgment skills. The learning structure will be made more flexible by reducing barriers between faculties and establishing a Central Credit Bank to allow students to pursue interdisciplinary studies according to their interests and needs.
2. Enhancing Thai-Chinese collaboration to become a regional health innovation hub.
Building on strengths in traditional Chinese medicine, health sciences, and Chinese studies, the university will create the Thai-China Healthcare Innovation Hub network to foster academic and research collaboration, including clinical research and the application of Thai herbal medicine. Graduates will be equipped with proficiency in Thai, Chinese, and English languages alongside technology and AI skills to increase competitiveness and meet future societal needs, particularly in health and aging populations.
3. Developing work-ready graduates who create shared value with communities and society.
Curricula will be aligned with real-world work through continuous learning based on industry challenges (Industry Project) throughout the program, ensuring graduates possess essential knowledge, technological proficiency, and practical experience for the workforce. Opportunities for lifelong learning and short courses, especially in wellness, eldercare, and rehabilitation, will be expanded to serve learners of all ages.
At the same time, the university remains grounded in its founding principles of generosity and gratitude to the nation embodied by the Po Tek Tung Foundation, continuing its identity in ethics and social service. It aims to evolve into an "Engaged University" working closely with communities, applying knowledge and technology to sustainably improve quality of life, wellness, and safety in society.
Towards the end, Professor Dr. Supoj shared his leadership philosophy, stating that transitioning into a learning organization does not start with perfection but with humility, openness to listening, courage to ask informed questions, and transparent management. These will form a crucial foundation for collaboration and guide the Huachiew community forward together.
This new chapter marks not just a leadership transition but a collective continuation of the university’s values and ideals, building capacity and creating new educational opportunities to establish Huachiew Chalermprakiet University as a stable and sustainable institution that develops good, talented individuals who contribute meaningfully to Thai society and the world.
