The family mourns and awaits the body of brave soldier Sergeant Patchara Yamtaengon, a fighter at the Chong An Ma battlefield. His father expressed sadness, recalling that just yesterday his son called to say he loved them. Last November, he bought a sedan as a gift to himself but never got to drive it.
Following the tense Thai-Cambodian border clash, brave soldier Sergeant Patchara Yamtaengon, also known as Moo Game, aged 29, of the 2nd Special Operations Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Regiment (RPS 1 BN 2), serving as a field radio operator, died from a bomb blast to the head in the Chong An Ma battlefield, Hill 677, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani.
At 1:00 p.m. on 12 Dec 2025 GMT+7, at the sermon hall of Wat Sak, Village 1, Thanon Yai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Lopburi, Phra Kru Sutthammasorn, the abbot, along with Lieutenant Colonel Ong-art Yamtaengon, aged 60, from Military Circle 13, Mrs. Suntaree Yamtaengon, aged 59, the soldier's girlfriend, and relatives gathered to prepare the place to receive Moo Game's body for an honorable funeral. The atmosphere was sorrowful, with friends coming to support the family, some unable to hold back tears.
Lieutenant Colonel Ong-art Yamtaengon, Moo Game's father who served in the three southern border provinces while stationed at the Army Aviation Center in Lopburi, revealed that he was informed by the field unit at 10:00 a.m. Initially, his son was stationed at Chong Bok, Nam Yuen District, and had recently moved to Chong An Ma. The previous evening, he spoke with his girlfriend and expressed love to his parents, assuring them he was safe. He had trouble sleeping earlier due to fighting but rested better last night. However, an incident occurred in the morning leading to his death.
The family further revealed that since going to the border in April, Moo Game had not returned home. Recently, on his birthday, 26 November, he bought a sedan as a gift to himself. His parents went to pick up the car, but he had not yet seen it.
Additionally, Lieutenant Colonel Ong-art sadly told reporters about losing his son at only 29 years old: "He was a soldier serving the nation and did his best." He then walked over to a black-gray Toyota sedan with red plates registered in Lopburi, which Moo Game had purchased as a gift for himself, intending to drive it to photograph their house in Thanon Yai Subdistrict for his unit.
Moo Game's girlfriend tearfully told reporters that she learned of the news from a friend who messaged her on LINE. She had thought he was only injured and never expected such a quick loss. She said her mind was now in a daze.
Meanwhile, Danai Watkhieowiam, a senior friend of Moo Game, said he was shocked to hear the news. Moo Game had served in the south for two years and then was assigned to the border in Ubon Ratchathani, rarely staying home. He had good morale and spirit. Danai did not expect this incident to happen to him. Moo Game was always concerned for his family, especially his parents and girlfriend. He fully dedicated himself to serving the country. This family truly represents warrior spirit.
Reporters further noted that the body of Sergeant Patchara Yamtaengon will be brought back from Srisittiprasong Camp Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani tomorrow (13 Dec 2025) at around 9:00 a.m. It is expected to arrive at the 1st Special Warfare Regiment, Wachiralongkorn Camp, by 11:00 a.m., where an honorable reception will be held.
