
Tensions have been high at the Sa Kaeo border since early morning as Cambodia fired heavy weapons into homes in the Khok Sung community, causing damage and setting one house on fire. Authorities are rushing to put out the blaze to prevent it from spreading further.
On 22 December 2025 GMT+7, reporters covering the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo Province reported that since early dawn, continuous exchanges of fire have taken place between soldiers from both sides, with heavy weapons fire heard intermittently, causing alarm among local residents near the border.
At approximately 07:20, reports confirmed that Cambodian forces fired heavy weapons across the border into Thai territory, with some rounds landing in the community of Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province. This area, near Ban Nong Ya Kaew, experienced indiscriminate shelling, resulting in damage to civilian homes and triggering a fire.
Preliminary assessments found that homes in Ban Don Lum were directly affected, including the house of Mr. Pisut, which was hit by gunfire and caught fire, causing significant property damage. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported since most residents had evacuated the danger zone beforehand. Security forces and related agencies have taken control of the area, are urgently surveying damage, providing assistance to victims, and reminding those near the border to avoid entering risky zones and strictly follow official guidance.
