Worker Renovating House After New Year Shocked to Find Human Remains Hidden in Ceiling (Video)

A worker was shocked to find human remains hidden in the ceiling of a house. Nearby, a metal wire cutter was found. The remains are believed to belong to a migrant worker who has been missing for two years.

On 7 Jan 2026 GMT+7, it was reported that at 3:00 p.m. on 6 Jan, Lieutenant Boonlert Uphalcharoen, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Lam Luk Ka Police Station, received a report of human remains found in the ceiling of a house in a village in Bueng Kham Phroi Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. Upon receiving the report, he went to investigate the scene with Police Lieutenant Colonel Saknarint Ratphan, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) of Lam Luk Ka Police Station, forensic police, a forensic doctor from MSU Hospital Klong 16, and rescue volunteers from Rom Sai Rescue Foundation, Lam Luk Ka.

The scene was a two-story detached house on about 50 square wah, occupied by workers renovating it. On the second floor ceiling in a corner room, officers found human remains that had been dead for some time, decomposed to a skeleton wrapped in clothing, lying on the ceiling structure above the roof. The body was draped over a beam above electrical wires. Nearby, a metal wire cutter and a bag containing identification documents of a migrant worker, about 29 years old, named Mr. Keo or Mr. Dam, a Cambodian construction worker employed by a company, were found.

Ms. Kanjana Charoenthong, 59, a worker, said she came to work at the house for the first day after the New Year break. Her co-workers had arrived earlier and were working on the ceiling. She said that previously, there was a foul smell every day, but co-workers thought it was probably a monitor lizard that had died up there, so they paid it no mind.

Today, while repairing the ceiling in the corner room where there was a hole, she used a PVC pipe to poke inside and found cloth blocking the hole. When she pushed further, she accidentally touched a human skull. Shocked, she pulled it down, bringing the skull with it. She then took the skull and informed the homeowner and police officers at the scene.

Mr. Add Thongphaen, 46, a nearby resident, said that in the village, there are migrant workers from Cambodia and Myanmar. Previously, a Cambodian worker had gone missing for about one to two years. His wife and children searched for him and checked CCTV footage but found nothing. After failing to find him, his family, including his sister and brother-in-law, returned to Cambodia. A Cambodian worker still working there recognized the photo in the passport as the missing man named Mr. Keo.

Ms. Noi, 38, a Cambodian migrant worker, said she knew the deceased, Mr. Keo, who had been missing for two years. When he disappeared, no one knew the reason, and he had no possessions with him. The deceased lived with his sister, brother-in-law, wife, child, and another worker. They worked on home construction and renovation. He had no disputes with anyone. After Mr. Keo went missing and could not be found, his family and wife returned to Cambodia. She said the deceased had no known conflicts inside the house. She did not know if there were any problems outside the house. After seeing the ID photo, she confirmed the deceased was Mr. Keo who had disappeared.

Forensic police and doctors inspected the ceiling and found the wire cutters nearby, along with signs that wires had been cut. Preliminary suspicion is that the deceased climbed up to cut the wires and was electrocuted. The Rom Sai Rescue Foundation was instructed to send the body to the Forensic Science Institute under the Ministry of Justice for further investigation into the cause of death.
