16-Hour Repair of Burst Water Pipe Causes Water Seepage and Road Subsidence on Rama 2 Road Area Set to Reopen to Traffic

Officials spent 16 hours repairing a large burst water pipe that caused water seepage and road subsidence on Rama 2 Road. Water supply to residents has been restored, and preparations are underway to reopen the area to traffic.

On 18 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that the Samut Sakhon Municipality quickly monitored and addressed a main water pipe burst on the parallel road of Rama 2 inbound towards Bangkok, in front of Choktawee Timber Store, Maha Chai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Samut Sakhon Province. Mayor Chumphon Jancharatwat assigned Deputy Mayor Sakchai Nimitpanya and Waterworks Department Director Weerayut Thongwatcharanon to closely inspect and oversee the repair work on site.

Waterworks Department Director Weerayut Thongwatcharanon stated that the repair of the damaged water pipe was completed as planned after officials and heavy machinery worked continuously for over 16 hours—from site preparation and trench excavation to technical repairs. Water has now been released into the system to serve residents within the municipality normally. They are also actively informing the public to ensure widespread awareness.

At the work site, officials are restoring the road surface and removing equipment from the area. It is expected that traffic will return to normal within a few hours. Samut Sakhon Municipality apologized to residents for the inconvenience caused during the repair work and expressed gratitude to all parties who cooperated and supported the officials, enabling a swift resolution and restoration of normal conditions in the area.
