A helicopter made an emergency landing in a field behind a village in Ayutthaya, causing local residents to panic and rush over. The cause was a rotor malfunction, and repairs took about 20 minutes before it took off again.
On 22 Jan 2026 GMT+7, a reporter reported that around 10:00 a.m., villagers in Kasethani Village, Ban Wa Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, saw a helicopter make an emergency landing at the back of the village for unknown reasons, prompting them to rush over in alarm.
Ms. Wasana Homphuangnoi, 49, an eyewitness, recounted in a startled tone that she was sitting in front of her house when she heard sounds like wind and rotor blades overhead. Looking up, she saw the helicopter flying above the roofs of houses opposite her. Noticing something unusual, she heard noises suggesting rotor trouble and saw signals from those aboard requesting an emergency landing. Fearing the helicopter would land in the village community, she gestured with raised hands directing it to land at the back of the village in an open field. The helicopter circled over the villagers’ homes and then landed in the field behind the village, after which she and other villagers quickly rode motorcycles to the site.
Ms. Wasana added that upon arrival, she saw three people inside the helicopter. They briefly discussed that the rotor was malfunctioning and began repairs. She also noticed the helicopter bore the inscription 'Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.' Fortunately, no one was injured, and the helicopter took off again after the repair.
Additionally, villagers reported that the crew spent about 20 minutes repairing the helicopter before it took off once more.
The reporter later went with villagers to the spot where the helicopter had made its emergency landing in the field behind the village. At the site, clear impressions from the helicopter’s landing gear were visible in the soil, deeply pressed due to the aircraft's weight. Surrounding the area was scattered dust, likely caused by the rotor’s wind force and impact during landing.
However, further investigation by relevant authorities is awaited to determine the agency to which the helicopter belongs and the exact cause of the emergency landing.
