The Sa Kaeo provincial border remains closed at the “Dead Gate.” The 1201 Ranger Regiment is maintaining strict 24-hour vigilance, having installed electronic fences and CCTV cameras along the risky border areas to respond to uncertain situations.
On 17 Feb 2026 GMT+7, reporters noted that the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo remains under high alert. The border crossing points have been strictly closed since the dispute between Thailand and Cambodia began. Officials from the 1201 Ranger Regiment continue to patrol and inspect the entire border area amid ongoing uncertainty.
Operations cover the forest and farmland areas up to Ban Nong Prue, near the Khlong Hat district border, considered a high-risk zone for illegal crossings. Personnel conduct foot patrols alongside vehicle inspections to enhance border control effectiveness.
Security measures operate 24 hours daily, especially in key zones 49–51, strategic points along the border, and at 'Tha Ta Thui,' where a natural barrier, Khlong Prom Hod canal, exists. Historically a route for illegal crossings, authorities have installed electronic fences and CCTV along these risky areas to closely monitor and detect suspicious individuals, whether Cambodian nationals or illegal crossers into Thailand.
Meanwhile, rangers continue thorough inspections of vehicles and individuals entering and exiting the area. Checkpoints and patrol frequencies have been increased to prevent all forms of illegal activity, including unauthorized entry, smuggling of illicit goods, and acts that could threaten national security.
Officials emphasize that all measures aim to maintain security and order along the border. They urge the public to avoid risky areas and report any unusual movements immediately to help sustain long-term security. Plans to construct a border wall in the near future may proceed following the formation of the new government.
