Body of Girl Aged 3-5 Found Abandoned in Riverside Thicket Along Irrigation Canal Road in Saraburi

A heartbreaking case: villagers discovered the body of a girl aged about 3-5 years abandoned in a roadside thicket along the irrigation canal embankment in Saraburi. The body was beginning to decompose and was missing the right arm. Authorities are rushing it for forensic examination. Initially, no missing child reports have been filed in the area.

At 3:00 p.m. on 23 Feb 2026, Police Lieutenant Commander Kamfon Uthaima, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Nong Don Police Station, Saraburi Province, was notified by a good Samaritan who found the body of a child about 3-5 years old, gender unknown, abandoned beside the irrigation canal embankment road on the Chai Nat-Pa Sak route, Village No. 2, Ban Klap Subdistrict, Nong Don District, Saraburi Province. Volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation and relevant officials were coordinated to investigate.

The scene was along the irrigation canal road, surrounded by dense wild grass in a secluded area with no nearby houses and no street lighting at night. A purple bedsheet patterned with dolls was found about 3 meters from the roadside. Further down the embankment lay the body of a girl face down, beginning to decompose with maggots on the body. The right arm was missing. She was wearing long jeans, a pink jacket, a diaper, and blue socks. A white towel was found near the body. It is estimated she had been deceased for no less than five days.

Mr. Sitthichai Keerirat, 48, said that after finishing work in Lopburi Province, he was heading to visit his elder brother in Nong Don District, Saraburi Province. While riding his motorcycle along the canal embankment road, he noticed a purple cloth by the roadside. He stopped and looked down to see what appeared to be a doll lying there. When he went closer, he realized it was a decomposing child's body emitting a foul odor. He then reported it to Nong Don Police Station for investigation.

Later, forensic officials from Saraburi Province along with doctors from Nong Don Hospital examined the scene and collected evidence. They confirmed the body was of a girl aged approximately 3-5 years, deceased for at least five days. Inquiries at Nong Don Police Station found no reports of missing persons in the area. The Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers then transported the body to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani Province for a detailed cause-of-death examination.

Most recently, investigators from the Saraburi Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Division visited the scene to search for clues and review nearby CCTV footage to swiftly track down and prosecute the perpetrator according to the law.
