Police are awaiting autopsy and DNA results from the pickup truck before concluding the cause in the case of a Grade 12 female student who went missing for three days and was found dead floating in the Mae Klong River in Kanchanaburi. The possibility of suicide has not been ruled out.
Updates on the case of Ms. Ice (a pseudonym), a Grade 12 student at a well-known school in Kanchanaburi province, whose body was found in the Mae Klong River beside the residence of the Kanchanaburi provincial governor. Her family reported her missing since the evening of 21 February 2026. Her motorcycle was found damaged after being hit on the Mae Klong River bridge about 100 meters from where the body was discovered. Police traced the incident to a pickup truck involved in the collision. The truck owner confirmed that on Saturday night he did hit Ms. Ice's motorcycle but did not see her at the time.
At 11:00 AM on 24 Feb 2026, Police Colonel Chairat Buakhom, Superintendent of Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station, called a meeting with investigators and the detective team to review the case files and progress, aiming to summarize the investigation.
Police Colonel Chairat disclosed that the body of Ms. Ice has been sent to the Police General Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Once the autopsy results are known, the cause should be clear. Meanwhile, police investigation found that on the night of the incident when Ms. Ice's motorcycle was found hit and lying on the Mae Klong bridge, the motorcycle was locked with the steering lock engaged. Near the motorcycle on the bridge edge, Ms. Ice's mobile phone was found abandoned.
Upon checking Ms. Ice's Instagram, police found several posts expressing distress over personal life problems. The last IG Story was a photo taken at the bridge near the incident site, before she disappeared and was later found dead in the Mae Klong River. Therefore, police have not ruled out suicide as a possibility.
Regarding the accident aspect, police have sent forensic officers from Kanchanaburi Provincial Police to examine the pickup truck involved in the collision to check if Ms. Ice's DNA is present in the vehicle. If her DNA is found, it could support the accident theory as many expect. If not, it may indicate self-harm. However, the full case conclusion awaits autopsy results and DNA analysis from the pickup truck involved in the collision with Ms. Ice's motorcycle.
