The former wife of British billionaire Quentin, who died in Pattaya, filed a complaint with the Pattaya Lawyers Council, affirming she was not involved in her ex-husband's death and is demanding custody of their children, who are currently unreachable and whose whereabouts are unknown.
According to foreign media reports, Mr. Quentin John Griffiths, 58, a British billionaire and co-founder of the online fashion company ASOS, fell from the balcony of a luxury condominium in Pattaya on 9 February 2026. Police investigations found the apartment locked from the inside with no signs of forced entry or struggle. The preliminary assumption is possible suicide, with official autopsy results pending.
On 27 February, at the Pattaya Lawyers Council office in Na Kluea, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province, Mr. Suksan Missajan, chairman of the Pattaya Lawyers Council, together with Ms. Ploynapas (surname withheld) or “Ploy,” the former wife of 58-year-old British national Quentin John Griffiths, held a press conference affirming her innocence and claiming her maternal rights. She requested assistance from relevant authorities to locate the three children who had been taken away and whose whereabouts are unknown. Ms. Ploynapas has already filed a report with the Huay Yai Police Station. The children are: 1. Ms. Tangmo, 19 (biological daughter from a previous marriage and legally adopted by the deceased), 2. Master James, 12, and 3. Miss Lilly, 11, the latter two being children of the deceased.
Mr. Suksan revealed that he received a complaint from Ms. Ploynapas after she was affected by some foreign media outlets implying she might have been involved in her ex-husband's death. The facts show they had been separated for over five years, living separate lives; the deceased had remarried, while she lived in Bangkok and was unaware of any details about her ex-husband's business or assets.
Previously, the couple had custody disputes, with the court granting custody to the father. However, the children did not live directly with their father but with his new wife and caregivers. The mother respected the court order but was unable to see her children as she wished.
After the ex-husband's death, the woman said she learned the news simultaneously with the public and insisted she was not involved. However, foreign media linked the case to property issues, and some individuals contacted her with insinuations, causing her distress and damaging her reputation.
The crucial issue now is that the three children were taken from their original residence without known location and are unreachable. The mother reported this to the police and requested authorities to help locate the children. She emphasized that with the father's death, legal custody should revert to the mother.
In summary, the Pattaya Lawyers Council's press conference today aimed to confirm that Ms. Ploynapas is not involved in the death of her former British husband, Quentin John Griffiths, and that she was unaware of any of his business affairs because he only visited Thailand during high season. Ms. Ploynapas also seeks to reclaim custody of her children following her husband's death.
Ms. Ploynapas tearfully expressed deep concern for the safety and wellbeing of her three children, whose current location and contact are unknown. She appealed to government agencies for urgent help in bringing her children back to her. She also admitted that upon learning of her ex-husband’s death, she was shocked to the point of collapsing and subsequently ordained as a Brahmin nun.
She acknowledged her emotional bond with her ex-husband, whom she had been with since 2005, until they separated about five years ago due to his remarriage. He later filed for sole custody of the children, which he obtained, and prevented her from seeing the children. After his death, she received threatening calls from third parties and was denied access to her children. Unfamiliar with legal procedures, she sought help from the Lawyers Council.
The family confirms they will follow legal procedures and urges society to consider all facts carefully, emphasizing that the main goals are to locate the children and protect their reputation from misleading news.
